Arie Belldegrun, M.D., FACS, is professor of urology and chief of urologic oncology and holds the Roy and Carol Doumani Chair in Urologic Oncology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Dr. Belldegrun is on the scientific boards of several biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical device companies and is a reviewer for many medical journals and granting organizations. He served as chairman of the Molecular and Biological Technology Committee of the American Urological Association and member of its Technology Assessment Council, and as a member of the Governor's Council on Bioscience for the state of California.
Dr. Belldegrun is the founder and director of Agensys Inc., a Los Angeles-based biotechnology company focused on the development of fully human monoclonal antibodies to treat solid cancers, and served as its founding chairman from 1997 to 2002. He is also vice chairman of the board of directors and chairman of the scientific advisory board of Cougar Biotechnology Inc. based in Los Angeles, director of Hana Biosciences (NASDAQ: HNAB) based in San Francisco and chairman of the medical advisory boards of Galil Medical (Plymouth Meeting, PA), Wilex (Germany), ROEIMedical and TopSpin (Israel). He is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons. |
